Senior Project Manager − Transportation Geotechnical and Tunneling
About the role
This role is within WSP’s national Geotechnical and Tunneling group, and Transportation and Infrastructure business line. The ideal candidate will manage teams of structural engineers and advance state-of-the-art structural engineering practices.
Responsibilities
- Manage teams of structural engineers (and other disciplines).
- Advance and implement state-of-the-art structural engineering practices, inclusive of advanced modelling/analysis/design tools, digital delivery, AI.
- Drive the development of innovative technical concepts to reduce construction cost, risk, and project duration.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision-making regarding company funds, resources and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies and procedures.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering.
- 10+ years of experience designing tunnels, retaining walls, bridges and related structures.
- Experienced in the design and analysis of reinforced concrete and structural steel.
- Proven success in: Task or Project Management, Staff development and leadership, Development of deliverable packages, Technical innovation, Quality management, Inter-disciplinary coordination, Structural inspections, Construction support.
- Professional Engineer Registration in New York State, willing to obtain PE registration in other states.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Proven track record of upholding workplace safety and ability to abide by WSP’s health, safety and drug/alcohol and harassment policies.
- Occasional travel may be required depending on project-specific requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Master’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- Direct experience with MTA (NYCT) and subway station framing.
- Experience with inspection and rehabilitation-design of underground structures.
- Familiarity with finite element and beam-spring modeling.
- Experience with construction cost estimating.
- Experience with alternative delivery methods.
