About the role

Welty Energy is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join their Transmission (Tx) and Substation Project Management team. Based in Akron, OH, with up to 15% travel, this role focuses on planning, organizing, and coordinating the completion of substation and transmission line projects ranging from 69kV to 765kV.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate with all applicable stakeholders to establish and maintain communication throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Act as the primary point of contact with clients regarding project progress and requirements.
  • Conduct technical reviews of specifications, drawings, contracts, addenda, and other construction documents to ensure compliance with client standards and specifications.
  • Lead project planning and status meetings to ensure schedule and financial adherence, and address significant issues.
  • Provide regular updates on engineering, construction, and budget statuses to internal and external management teams.
  • Oversee and coordinate construction package reviews, pre-award meetings, field visits, and pre-award project site walk-downs.
  • Act as the main liaison for construction on submittals, reviews, and document coordination.
  • Avoid schedule interruptions and conflicts by identifying and submitting necessary outages and securing required permits and approvals.
  • Assist Portfolio Managers with coordination, preparation, and reporting of significant activities on construction projects.
  • Perform regular site safety inspections at project locations.
  • Focus on stakeholder interaction and client expectations when planning and executing projects.
  • Follow project management principles to estimate, monitor, and control approved funding, resources, schedules, and project activities.
  • Adhere to client's methods, processes, and policies while planning and executing projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, construction management, or equivalent years of experience in electric utility project management.
  • Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in project management, planning, or similar roles within the electric utility sector, specializing in high voltage (Sub and Tx).
  • PMP certification preferred.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective leadership and organizational skills.
