About the role
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading major projects exceeding $50 million in value. Key responsibilities include developing and managing project estimates, overseeing change orders, managing subcontractor performance, and ensuring project compliance with quality and regulatory standards.
Responsibilities
- Develops, maintains, updates, and distributes project estimates.
- Manages and monitors project schedules and budgets.
- Oversees change order processes and billing.
- Serves as the primary point of contact with clients and subcontractors.
- Ensures project compliance with safety, quality, and regulatory requirements.
- Manages labor relations and dispute resolution.
- Reviews and approves project expense reports.
- Monitors and reviews project performance metrics.
- Develops and implements safety incentive programs.
- Participates in business development activities.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Construction Management, or related field.
- At least 7-10 years of experience in field construction project management.
- Experience managing projects in excess of $50 million.
- Strong knowledge of cost accounting and reporting systems.
- Ability to manage complex projects and teams.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Proficiency in project management software.
Qualifications
- Extensive knowledge of cost accounting/reporting systems.
- Extensive knowledge of construction means and methods.
- Proven ability to manage change order processes and billings.
- Strong negotiation and contract management skills.
- Ability to resolve jurisdictional issues among crafts.
- Ability to develop and maintain positive working relationships with key subcontractors.
- Ability to effectively implement the Company’s buyout procedures.
- Knowledge of Built-In Safety policies and practices.
- Ability to develop safety incentive programs for projects.
- Ability to review costs and variances by project.
- Ability to review and approve project expense reports.
- Ability to review and update labor productivity reports.
- Ability to review and discuss profit fade plans.
- Ability to review and discuss schedule of project income.
- Ability to review and discuss cost trends and profit margins.
- Ability to prepare and present Horizon Plans.
- Ability to review and discuss salaried personnel charged to projects or business units.
- Ability to travel to various locations across North America as required.
