Senior Project Manager - San Diego

About the role

The position involves managing educational facility projects in California. The primary liaison and education/owner representative is responsible for directing and managing a portfolio of projects ranging from large building re-development programs to smaller projects. Responsibilities include ensuring on-time completion within or below budget, scope development, and establishing project management plans, health and safety plans, and quality assurance plans.

Responsibilities

• Ensure on-schedule completion within or below budget in accordance with contractual obligations.
• Direct and manage a portfolio of education projects.
• Develop and implement project management plans, health and safety plans, and quality assurance plans.
• Plan and define program goals and devise methods to accomplish them.
• Monitor project deliverables for adherence to criteria.
• Supervise and control the execution of all technical, fiscal, and administrative functions of the assigned project.
• Provide input to performance reviews and development plans for subordinates.
• Participate in negotiations with regulatory agencies and public meetings.
• Rectify potential cost overruns or delays and accommodate significant changes to the scope of work.
• Follow up on instructions and commitments associated with the project.

Requirements

• Bachelor's or Master's degree in Architecture, Engineering, Construction Management, or a closely related field.
• Minimum 7-10 years of related work experience, including experience as an owner or owner representative.
• Previous project management experience on similar or related large-scale projects in education.
• Professional Engineer (PE) certification preferred.
• Proven ability to lead and perform in a leadership capacity.
• Excellent written and oral communication skills.
• Thorough knowledge of industry practices and regulations.
• Knowledgeable of current technology and its effective utilization.

Qualifications
