Senior Project Manager – Power Generation
About the role
The power generation market is growing and evolving, driven by strong capacity demand signals. HDR's national Power Generation team is poised for significant growth and is seeking a Senior Project Manager to support the development, contracting, and implementation of natural gas and potentially renewable energy generation projects.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain positive and proactive client relationships.
- Achieve project schedule, quality, and profitability goals.
- Serve as proposal champion/manager and assist with proposal preparation, contract review, and risk evaluation.
- Provide daily leadership to the project team and technical staff, ensuring project activities are completed successfully.
- Communicate regularly with the project team and client about project progress, aligning expectations on deliverables.
- Monitor project deliverables for quality, completeness, and adherence to client expectations.
- Proactively manage the project budget and schedule, developing recovery plans for potential shortfalls.
- Identify and manage scope changes, guiding design or consulting work in areas of engineering expertise.
- Routinely report project progress to the local and regional accounting and operations team.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering or relevant field.
- Minimum 10 years of relevant power generation project experience.
- Registered Professional Engineer (PE).
- PMP certification.
- Significant experience with utility-scale power generation systems, including simple cycle and combined cycle plants.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in related field.
- Minimum 5 years of project management experience.
- Familiarity with MS Office, estimating and scheduling software, and project management software.
- Excellent organizational, project management, and communication skills (written and verbal).
