Senior Project Manager – Manufacturing (Structural Glass) – Austin Texas

About the role

Our client is a specialty structural glass design, engineering and manufacturing company that serves progressive architecture and building industry professionals on unique and challenging structural glass projects worldwide. They are expanding their Project Management department and seeking a Senior Project Manager with extensive expertise in metal component manufacturing and full‑lifecycle project planning, control, communication, and documentation. The role involves managing projects from inception through design, approval, procurement, fabrication, and installation, coordinating with sales, clients (architects, contractors, installers), and internal Engineering, Design, Procurement, Finance, and Manufacturing teams. Responsibilities include client approval, fabrication, assembly, and installation of specialty structural glass systems, with occasional travel. The position reports to the Project Executive and works within a matrixed, multi‑disciplinary team. This full‑time, onsite role offers significant growth opportunities for a self‑motivated professional with 10+ years leading complex manufacturing projects.

Responsibilities

• Internal and external coordination of projects from design through approval, procurement, fabrication, and installation.
• Contract language negotiation in coordination with Project Executive, Director of Finance, and Legal.
• Anticipate, manage, and communicate customer expectations.
• Review contract documents and internal drawings to coordinate contracted scope.
• Monitor performance against budget.
• Create, maintain, and schedule project plans.
• Maintain and upkeep project files.
• Inspect and coordinate with the shop on in‑house fabricated metal, aluminum, and stainless‑steel parts.
• Coordinate schedules with Procurement and clients for all project materials.
• Convey and document installation methods to glaziers.
• Prepare physical sample, technical data, and warranty submissions.
• Manage project close‑out and issue warranty documentation.

Required Skills & Experience

• Minimum 10 years progressive Project Management experience in manufacturing, with exposure to commercial construction; glass/glazing experience is a strong plus.
• Minimum 10 years experience with steel, stainless steel, and/or aluminum manufacturing, including quality control.
• Excellent proficiency with MS Office, MS Project, and AutoCAD.
• Solid understanding of construction terminology, estimating, purchasing, scheduling, and planning concepts.
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret contract documents, drawings, specifications, and scopes of work.
• Strong business judgment demonstrated by consistent profitability and successful project close‑outs.
• Proven track record of maintaining positive client and subcontractor relationships.
• Ability to multitask and handle competing priorities across business needs, organizational issues, and customer relations.
• Judgment to appropriately escalate issues up the chain of command.
• Strong sense of urgency and initiative.
• Team player thriving in a matrixed environment.
• Consistent, impeccable attention to detail.
• Excellent organizational, written, and verbal communication skills.
• Comfortable with occasional air travel, sometimes on short notice.

Preferred Skills & Experience

• Degree in Engineering, Construction, Manufacturing, or a related discipline.
• Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
• Knowledge of project management tools and technologies.

Pay

Salary range: $120,000 – $150,000 per year.

Location

Texas (permanent, full‑time, onsite position).
