About the role
The Senior Project Manager, IT leads the planning, execution, and delivery of complex programs, projects, and portfolio initiatives, serving as a strategic partner to leadership and a primary point of contact for stakeholders. This role manages project scope, budgets, resources, timelines, risks, and dependencies while ensuring alignment with organizational goals. The Senior Project Manager drives cross-functional collaboration, provides portfolio oversight, and promotes project management best practices to deliver successful business and technology outcomes.
Responsibilities
- Lead the planning, execution, and successful delivery of complex programs, projects, and strategic initiatives.
- Manage portfolio planning, including budget development, financial tracking, resource demand and capacity planning, and risk assessment.
- Develop and maintain project plans, schedules, resource plans, cost estimates, status reports, and performance metrics.
- Partner with business, product, technology, and operational stakeholders to support roadmap planning, project intake, change management, and dependency tracking.
- Build, lead, and influence cross-functional teams to ensure projects are completed on time, within scope, and within budget.
- Identify, assess, and manage project risks, issues, dependencies, and escalations; communicate impacts and mitigation strategies to stakeholders.
- Provide regular project, program, and portfolio updates to executive leadership, including status, risks, financials, and key decisions.
- Facilitate governance meetings and support strategic decision-making through effective reporting and analysis.
- Champion Agile and project management best practices, methodologies, tools, and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Coach and mentor project and program managers, fostering collaboration, accountability, and professional development.
- Build productive relationships with internal stakeholders, executive leadership, and external vendors.
- Support process design, PMO transformation initiatives, and other special projects as assigned.
- Operate effectively in a fast-paced, matrixed environment with strong organizational, communication, and stakeholder management skills.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- 4-year degree (Computer Science, Information Systems or related functional field) or equivalent combination of education or work experience.
- Minimum 8 years of Project Manager Experience in IT and business.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in Program / Portfolio Management.
- Experience with Agile development.
- PMP certification preferred.
- Experience working on large scale Business and Technology initiatives.
- Strategic thinker with the ability to balance long-term planning and big-picture objectives while remaining willing and able to dive into operational details when needed to drive project success.
- Financial industry experience preferred.
