Job Responsibilities
- Direct and manage large, complex environmental engineering projects, including performing senior-level technical analysis and review;
- Develop environmental permitting and regulatory strategy for a variety of industrial and construction projects;
- Manage the preparation and submission of permits and compliance programs for multiple environmental media, including air, wastewater, stormwater, waste, spill prevention and storage tanks, EPCRA (Tier II, TRI);
- Prepare and submit responses to Notice of Violations and negotiate permit requirements with regulatory agencies on behalf of clients;
- Conduct multi-media environmental compliance audits, gap assessments, inspections, and program reviews;
- Lead and develop a team of environmental compliance staff, including hiring, coaching, training, and motivating team members. Provide direct oversight and management of junior staff for specific project assignments;
- Lead and/or assist in the preparation of proposals, including scope and fees development;
- Ensure that multiple projects and tasks are delivered on time and within budget. Manage change orders, prepare draft invoices, support project billings, and assist in payment collections;
- Identify and pursue new client opportunities, expand work within existing projects, and attend business development meetings and events;
- Maintain membership and leadership roles in relevant industry organizations;
- Coordinate other work groups across different office locations and different disciplines as needed;
- Interface professionally with clients, contractors, subcontractors, staff, project personnel, and supervisors;
- Collaborate as part of a multidisciplinary engineering team to support projects across US.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Environmental or Chemical Engineering or Science. Master’s degree preferred;
- 10+ years of experience working with regulations and environmental permitting;
- Professional certification preferred;
- 40-hour OSHA HAZWOPER certification;
- Knowledge of Federal, Midwest states, other states, and county-level environmental compliance regulations;
- Ability to effectively manage multiple clients and projects;
- Willingness and ability to identify new client opportunities is strongly desired;
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
- Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical, multitasking, and judgment capabilities;
- Ability to effectively work independently and in a team environment;
