About the role

Step into a high-impact role supporting the Cedar River Generation Station—a brand-new facility adjacent to Prairie Creek—where you’ll join mid-project and help drive execution through commissioning in Spring 2027. This onsite role is based out of the Alliant Energy Tower, where you will travel to job sites and have the opportunity to support future projects located across our service territory including Wisconsin. While prior power plant experience isn’t required, your background in electrical systems, commercial construction, or infrastructure will be key as you lead complex, cross-functional workstreams, manage risk, and deliver critical energy projects that power our communities.

Responsibilities

  • Understand and utilize Alliant Energy project management methodologies and processes based on Project Management Institute (PMI) for project delivery to achieve scope, schedule, and cost objectives, while effectively managing risks that have the potential to affect project deliverables.
  • Determine specific business needs and deliverables of a project, and utilizing project management tools, establish and manage the costs, resources, performance measurements, timeline, and technical objectives required to complete the project and meet the expected outcome.
  • Determine appropriate project resource and staffing skillsets, including assessing the level of expertise needed to complete a project while evaluating strategies to reduce overall project risk.
  • Manage applicable project contracts in conjunction with sourcing personnel. Ensure work is completed to specifications and on schedule as specified in the contract.
  • Develop and execute communication and stakeholder management plans related to projects, including reporting project status, risks, and progress to stakeholders in an agreed format, frequency, and content.
  • Ensure training needs are met for project team members and users of the project. Upon completion, ensure operational teams are properly trained, work orders are closed, finance charges are handled, team members are reassigned, documentation is in order, and a smooth transition of deliverables occurs.
  • Provide support and mentor others in the use of organizational change management methodology and business consulting within the context of program and project management to aid in achieving strategic objectives.
  • Perform cost/benefit analysis of the project and ensure feasibility.
  • Engage in other duties as needed that support Alliant Energy’s values and help deliver on our purpose to serve customers and build stronger communities.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree.
  • 5 years of experience in project management managing medium to large-sized, complex projects.
  • Certification achievement of a Project Management Professional (PMP) certification within 12 months of employment is required.

Pay

Pay Range: $120,000-$135,000. The final salary offered will generally fall within this range and is dependent on various factors including but not limited to the responsibilities of the position, experience, skill set, internal pay equity, and other relevant qualifications of the applicant.
