About the role

Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking a Senior Project Manager to join our growing Civil/Site group in the Charlotte, NC office. This role involves project management, leadership, profitability, and client management for the project design team, working alongside Project Managers, office staff, and senior management to complete projects within established budgets and deadlines.

Projects may include large warehousing complexes, sporting arenas, residential developments, or mixed-use establishments in downtown business districts.

Responsibilities

  • Monitor time schedules and capital cost budgets on projects to satisfy client expectations and control work productivity.
  • Identify project teams, work packages, tasks, evaluation methods, productivity targets, deliverable schedules, and manpower requirements.
  • Oversee the quality control/quality assurance process for all assigned projects.
  • Manage work and productivity to achieve predetermined profit goals, productivity targets, and manpower estimates.
  • Participate in proposal coordination and provide marketing support, including business development.
  • Hold team meetings to ensure compliance with review and approval procedures before project submission.
  • Negotiate client scope changes relative to budgets and schedules, subject to supervisor approval.
  • Coordinate with project teams to ensure high utilization rates through effective communication (e.g., project team meetings).
  • Review monthly man-hour and cost reports to ensure projects meet profit goals.
  • Ensure adherence to project planning and profit control procedures.
  • Discuss budgets affecting project schedules or fees with clients and secure approval for out-of-scope work.
  • Collaborate with Department Managers to troubleshoot technical issues.
  • Work with the Billing Department to authorize and transmit client bills and follow up on timely payments.
  • Mentor Project Managers and junior staff in technical and business practices to support corporate objectives.
  • Adhere to the Health and Safety program and all applicable SOPs.
  • Review time sheets of direct reports during specified reporting periods.
  • Evaluate employee performance in accordance with company policy.
  • Oversee assigned staff, including timesheet review, performance evaluation, and daily supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.
  • 8+ years of civil/site land development experience.
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • Knowledge of local city, county, and state land use processes and regulations.
  • Proficiency in stormwater management, hydraulics, hydrological analyses, grading, and site development-related designs.
  • Proficient knowledge of AutoCAD.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for effective collaboration with coworkers, clients, and regulatory agencies.
  • Ability to read, write, and understand English for job-related communications and instructions.
  • Strong attention to detail with excellent analytical and judgment capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and in a team environment.
  • Construction oversight experience is a plus.
