About the Role

Jacobs’ PMCM team delivers projects and programs to achieve clients’ goals, playing a key role in moving vision from concept to reality. As the Senior Project Manager (SPM) for the Centralized Checked Baggage System (CCBS) project at Tampa International Airport, you will supervise a team of five overseeing the contractor’s removal of the old baggage system and installation of the new $300 million system in the main terminal and a new 16-gate concourse. The project is scheduled for completion in 2030.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and monitor the contractual performance of the design builder’s baggage handling system (BHS) subcontractor.
  • Manage coordination of work between the BHS subcontractor and Airport Operations staff to maintain BHS services throughout construction.
  • Review implementation plans and schedules prepared by the subcontractor for safety and operational issues.
  • Monitor the subcontractor’s submittals and requests for information.
  • Review and evaluate proposed changes and claims submitted by the subcontractor.
  • Ensure utility outages are properly coordinated, safely executed, and completed per agreed schedules.
  • Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports and brief senior Airport representatives.
  • Assess construction progress, review monthly payment requests, and recommend changes and approvals.
  • Track schedule updates from the design builder and discuss needed schedule mitigation actions with the subcontractor.
  • Monitor the subcontractor’s use of contingency and allowance funds and conduct monthly risk assessments.
  • Support the processing of change requests with technical, commercial, and schedule reviews.
  • Attend weekly progress meetings and special sessions to discuss specific project issues.
  • Provide subject matter expertise (SME) for a wide range of BHS issues and participate in problem-solving and value engineering exchanges.
  • Track daily reports and monitor corrective actions to meet design and quality requirements.
  • Participate in the coordination of equipment commissioning activities and TSA acceptance tests.
  • Support the Airport’s construction safety program.
  • Identify upcoming Airport decisions and coordinate the analysis and information needed to support these decisions.
  • Report directly to the assigned PMCM Senior Construction Manager with a dotted line to the Airport’s BHS SME.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience working on the installation, maintenance, and/or operations of an airport baggage handling system (BHS) or similar industrial conveyance system.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in a management role.
  • Experience managing a team responsible for delivering a project/program with cost, quality, schedule, and safety performance requirements.
  • Experience with setting priorities, solving problems, reacting to changed conditions, and mitigating conflicts.
  • Demonstrated ability to balance construction progress with safety and Airport operational issues while clearly communicating with stakeholders.
  • Experience managing the installation of a replacement BHS at a large commercial airport is preferred.
  • Position requires working onsite at Tampa Airport 5 days a week.

Pay

The base salary range for this position is $170,000.00 to $190,000.00. Individual pay within this range is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
