About the role
The Senior Project Manager is responsible for leading related programs and/or projects within a portfolio that are in support of a common business function, or dependent on each other. This role is accountable for ensuring that the PMO policies and processes are consistently applied and executed to optimize quality and on-time performance.
Responsibilities
- Ensure portfolio of projects are compliant and properly represented in the project forecasts and pipelines.
- Achieve alignment of projects to the timing of the business initiatives for a given year.
- Manage some projects within the portfolio of effort.
- Portfolio/Project Tracking (Financial, Schedule, Risk, Deliverables).
- Risk Management – Manage risk through a specific methodology that creates visibility into potential issues, and has actionable mitigation plans in place.
- Communicate program status to the business via a weekly program status meeting and down through to the program teams.
Requirements
- Must have the ability to prioritize and effectively delegate in a high-pressure environment.
- Resourceful and excellent organizational skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, written and communication skills.
- Strong time management skills, ability to work within deadlines.
- Clarity experience or equivalent PPM tools.
- Working knowledge of SharePoint, MS Excel.
- Strong work ethic and attention to detail.
- Familiar with a variety of project management methodologies, concepts, practices, and procedures is a must.
- Proficient in use of project management scheduling tools such as Microsoft Project or Clarity Open Workbench.
- Familiar with critical path analysis and portfolio dependencies.
- Working knowledge in a technical environment.
- Working knowledge of corporate financials and budgeting.
- Comfortable with project metrics and reporting.
Qualifications/Experience
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, Computer Science, Engineering or equivalent preferred.
- 5 – 10 years of experience in the field of program management or related IT discipline, and team leadership, required.
