About the role
The Senior Project Manager at TMG is responsible for overseeing the entire lifecycle of construction and design/build projects, typically valued between $7-10 million. This role requires a deep understanding of construction processes and the ability to manage projects through various delivery methods.
Responsibilities
- Manages the construction and/or design/build workflow process from project origination to closeout, including estimating, negotiation, contracting, and financial management.
- Works closely with owners, design professionals, and stakeholders to ensure project requirements are met and client satisfaction is maintained.
- Acquires and manages all necessary building permits and regulatory prerequisites.
- Visits project sites to ensure safety, quality, and compliance with the contracted scope of work.
- Prepares and manages cost estimates and proposals, evaluates projects for constructability, and develops critical path project schedules.
- Subcontracts or self-performs project tasks to meet objectives of price, schedule, and quality.
- Negotiates contracts, subcontracts, and purchase orders to ensure project goals are addressed.
- Identifies potential issues and facilitates solutions to prevent project delays.
- Conducts and documents project progress meetings, manages project costs, and ensures compliance with contract terms and legal requirements.
- Administers client-specific programs and manages project closeout.
- Trains, mentors, and coaches project team members.
- Participates in industry networking and professional development.
Competencies / Construction Skills
- Passion for construction, strong cost estimation and management skills, ability to create 3D visualizations, and expertise in CPM scheduling.
- Detail-oriented, prioritizes work, uses technology effectively, and maintains a paper trail.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, proactive approach to issues, and a bias for action.
- Effective team-building, communication, and conflict resolution skills, with a focus on fairness and professionalism.
- Expert knowledge of construction means and methods, proficiency with construction industry software, and extensive experience in government contracting.
Minimum Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction management with 10-15 years of experience, or 20+ years of directly related experience.
- Prior service as a U.S. military officer with construction project management experience preferred.
- Demonstrated experience in estimating and managing subcontracted and self-performed work activities.
- Expert knowledge of construction processes and means and methods.
- Proficiency with spreadsheets, email, and other construction industry software.
- At least 5-7 years of government contracting experience preferred.
- Ability to lift and handle 50-pound objects, full mobility, and a clean driving record.
- Current safety credentials and CQC certification.
- Professional credentials such as Associate Constructor (AC), Certified Professional Constructor (CPC), or PE in good standing.
