Senior Project Manager

About the role

Mercy Ships is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Project Manager to lead various organizational initiatives, ensuring successful planning, execution, and delivery of projects. The Senior Project Manager will be pivotal in driving project success through effective leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and robust stakeholder engagement.

Responsibilities

• Develop comprehensive project plans outlining tasks, timelines, and resource requirements.
• Oversee the execution of project plans, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and standards.
• Utilize standardized project management processes and documentation throughout the project lifecycle.
• Maintain comprehensive project documentation, including technical specifications, user guides, and change management plans.
• Facilitate knowledge transfer sessions to ensure understanding and adoption of new processes and tools.
• Evaluate projects and programs to assess strengths and identify areas for improvement.
• Manage interdependencies between projects and workstreams, ensuring resources are appropriately distributed.
• Manage project delegation, and implement project strategies to achieve business objectives.

• Understand and apply servant leadership principles, work collaboratively with integrity, and demonstrate accountability.

• Experience with formal project management methodologies and best practices.

• Experience interacting with all levels of the organization including Executive Leadership and Senior Management.

• Ability to evaluate projects and programs to assess strengths and identify areas for improvement.
• Ability to produce accurate and timely reporting of project status throughout its lifecycle.
• Ability to travel internationally, including extended onsite engagements as required.
• Experience in Agile or Scrum methodologies is a plus.

Requirements

The ideal candidate must be able to work effectively in a matrix environment, particularly influencing without final decision authority and leading while not owning desired outcomes. They must also have an ability to adjust quickly in response to re-organization, strategy or priority changes and shifting customer needs.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Computer Science, Information Systems, or the equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Minimum of 8-10 years of experience in project management.
• Minimum 7 years of leadership experience leading complex, global, and diverse teams.
• PMP (Project Management Professional) certification or equivalent is preferred.
• Successful completion of Mercy Ships Entry Training will be required within the first year.
