About the role
The Project Manager serves as McCarl's primary customer representative, accountable for safety, quality, productivity, profitability, and client relationships on assigned construction projects.
Responsibilities
- Ensure all activities comply with McCarl’s Safety Program and related procedures; train subordinates in safety protocols.
- Maintain accurate, regular communication and knowledge of all project activities.
- Enforce document control protocol and conduct project issue reviews to maintain schedule and compliance.
- Review and update project schedules, equipment, and manpower requirements.
- Prepare monthly cost projections and present at cost-to-complete meetings.
- Direct subordinates to meet project specifications, delivery dates, and budget compliance; approve overtime as needed.
- Represent McCarl at customer progress meetings across all assigned job sites.
- Negotiate and manage contracts with subcontractors, suppliers, and outside agents.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local laws, as well as McCarl’s operational and personnel policies.
- Develop project cost plans, short-interval schedules, and earned value reports.
- Conduct post-project reviews and perform additional duties as assigned.
This role includes functional supervisory responsibility over all McCarl field personnel and subcontractors.
Requirements
- Engineering or construction background with extensive industrial experience in wastewater treatment, steel, chemical, or oil & gas industries.
- Bachelor’s degree (BS/BA) from a four-year college/university plus fifteen years of related experience, or fifteen years of industrial construction experience as a supervisor or manager.
- 30-hour OSHA training required.
- Knowledge of ASME and API welding codes.
- Experience in proposal preparation for piping and equipment installation.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting construction documents, specifications, and drawings.
- Strong leadership, decisiveness, flexibility, business judgment, and communication skills.
- Ability to build and maintain positive customer relationships.
- Competency in analyzing financial, technical, and legal documents.
- Ability to draft presentations in prescribed formats and deliver information to upper management.
- Problem-solving skills, including data collection, fact-finding, and drawing valid conclusions.
Skills
- Intermediate: Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, Bluebeam (PDF), Viewpoint (Financial).
- Basic: Microsoft PowerPoint.
This position may be based in our Beaver Falls, Warrendale, or McMurray office locations.
