Senior Project Manager

About the role
The Senior Project Manager will oversee Project Engineer(s) and Assistant Project Manager(s), coordinate project scheduling with Project Supervisor(s), and ensure field teams adhere to company standard operating procedures while clearly understanding project scopes, tasks, and schedules. This in-person, full-time position is based in Plain City, OH and does not qualify for hybrid or remote work.
Responsibilities
- Drive projects from inception to completion, participating in conceptual development and overseeing organization, scheduling, budgeting, and implementation.
- Support field personnel with subcontractor relations and resolve field problems.
- Maintain full financial responsibility for projects, including understanding construction financial and accounting practices.
- Obtain and review contract and bid documents from estimating; ensure understanding of project scope during turnover.
- Attend walk-throughs and ensure efficient project document control (insurance, bonding, permits, submittals, RFIs, change orders, correspondence).
- Confer with supervisory personnel, owners, contractors, or design professionals to resolve work procedures, complaints, or construction problems.
- Prepare and submit budget estimates, progress reports, and cost tracking reports.
- Inspect or review projects to monitor compliance with building and safety codes, environmental regulations, and other requirements.
- Select subcontractors and equipment suppliers with input from engineering, estimating, and purchasing.
- Verify correct drawings are distributed to field personnel.
- Create schedule of values or billing formats as required by contract documents; integrate project schedules into overall manpower planning.
- Understand notice requirements and request purchase orders for major equipment and subcontractors, including shipping and delivery details.
- Facilitate material takeoffs by trade foremen.
- Host and attend meetings with internal and external stakeholders to review scheduling, work plans, job progress, manpower, and solutions to setbacks.
- Support the accounting department in monthly billings, collections, and follow-up on outstanding balances.
- Collaborate with foremen on project safety, toolbox talks, and weekly walk-throughs.
- Ensure no work starts prior to approval or notice to proceed.
- Assist field personnel in project closeout, including obtaining as-builts and requesting CAD from engineering.
- Escalate critical or sensitive issues to the Division Manager/Project Executive with recommended resolutions.
- Comply with company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs.
- Perform additional assignments as required.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED.
- Minimum 3–5 years of related experience in electrical construction or a similar industry.
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Teams, Outlook, Word, Excel).
- Familiarity with AutoCAD, Revit, and other electrical, technical, or construction programs.
- Familiarity with project management/document control software and construction/financial software packages.
Preferred Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree with an engineering or construction management focus; master’s degree in a related field is a plus.
- Working knowledge of the construction industry, contract documentation, and federal, state, and city regulations.

- Requires close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to commute to field locations and navigate job sites.
Work Environment
- Regularly works in an office setting with prolonged computer use.
- Travels to field locations as needed, which may include outdoor work and exposure to wet/humid conditions, moving mechanical/electrical parts, high places, dust, fumes, airborne particles, toxic/caustic chemicals, weather conditions, sunlight, cold, heat, electrical shock risk, and vibration.
- Noise levels in the work environment range from moderate to loud.
