About the role

We typically hire engineers with experience in the following areas:

  • Land Development (Residential, Commercial and Municipal/Government)
  • Stormwater
  • Wastewater
  • Traffic & Transportation
  • Structural

Responsibilities

  • Use professional judgment to direct and independently complete assigned engineering designs as an individual contributor.
  • Act as Project Manager or assist the Project Manager by assigning tasks and schedules to Project Engineers and project team members, answering questions, and monitoring progress.
  • Perform formal and informal QA/QC to check the accuracy of tasks completed by other engineering and technical staff.
  • Make major design decisions that meet external customer needs while coordinating the impact on related project efforts.
  • Proactively identify technical, schedule, or financial issues and seek resolution from the Project Manager and/or client as appropriate.
  • Assist the client in bidding or contractor selection if authorized by the Project Manager.
  • Monitor construction, supervise field personnel, respond to contractor questions, and prepare project addenda and change orders.
  • Participate in creating engineering services proposals, including estimating time schedules and costs.
  • Sign and seal engineering documents as an authorized representative of the company.
  • Communicate independently on technical matters with clients.
  • Serve as technical expert on assigned projects or act as Project Manager on smaller scope or specialty projects.
  • Participate in external activities representing the firm, such as professional associations, public task forces, or community outreach.
  • Develop financial project management skills through assigned project work.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering or a scientific area, or equivalent work experience.
  • Professional registration (P.E., L.S.) in one or more states where Timmons Group operates is strongly preferred.
  • Seven or more years of design/engineering experience with demonstrated ability to act as an authorized agent to sign engineering documents.
  • Ability to operate technical analysis and computer equipment.
  • Strong technical verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to read technical literature and engineering plans.
  • Demonstrated two-way communication skills to work effectively with internal staff and external clients.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to apply professional knowledge to routine and non-routine tasks.
  • Maturity, professionalism, and willingness to solve internal and external client problems.
  • High energy, creativity, flexibility, patience, and self-starter attitude to work in a dynamic environment.

Pay

Our best estimate of the salary range for this position is $100,000–$150,000. Offers are based on internal equity, experience, skills, education, credentials, and role complexity.
