Senior Project Engineer
Salary: $90,000 – $115,000 per year
About the role
We’re a large, well-established regional General Contractor with a dominant presence across the Southeast. Our core focus is student housing and mid- to high-rise multifamily developments, typically ranging from $40M–$150M+ in value. This is a high-volume, repeat-client environment where speed, precision, and execution matter. Projects are complex, schedules are aggressive, and teams are expected to perform at a high level.
The Senior Project Engineer plays a key role in driving project execution from preconstruction through closeout, working closely with Project Managers and Superintendents on large-scale, vertical construction projects. This is a traveling role across the Southeast U.S., supporting active job sites where needed.
Responsibilities
- Lead RFI, submittal, and document control processes with minimal oversight
- Coordinate with subcontractors, vendors, and field teams to maintain schedule and quality
- Assist in project scheduling, phasing plans, and look-ahead planning
- Track and manage project costs, change orders, and budget impacts
- Support buyout and procurement efforts for key trades
- Drive QA/QC processes and ensure work aligns with plans/specs
- Maintain strong communication between field operations and office teams
- Assist in project closeout, punch lists, and turnover documentation
What We’re Looking For
- 4–8+ years of experience in commercial construction
- Experience on student housing, multifamily, or mid/high-rise projects strongly preferred
- Proven ability to manage project documentation and coordination independently
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
- Strong understanding of construction processes, sequencing, and logistics
- Proficient with tools like Procore, Bluebeam, MS Project, or similar
- Willingness to travel throughout the Southeast (project-based assignments)
- Degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or related field preferred
