About the role

Manage all aspects of construction projects and maintenance activities on multiple complex multi-million-dollar projects critical to SRS operations. Responsible for a variety of less significant projects managed by less qualified project managers from conceptual design to completion with primary responsibility for safety, quality, schedule and cost.

Responsibilities

  • Take the necessary steps to stop work if continuing the job is unsafe or will create an unsafe condition.
  • Manage the physical construction of all assigned projects and assigned maintenance orders ensuring that each job is completed safely, within cost and schedule requirements.
  • Assign and manage personnel to serve on project teams and directs review boards to develop construction strategies, design reviews, cost and schedule guidance and other input opportunities as the project progresses.
  • Establish and control costs, schedule, and technical baselines and provide effective management of project staff and matrix personnel to control baselines.
  • Initiate and frequently deliver concise and accurate oral and written presentations to internal and external customers regarding construction status, changes and new approaches, including complex technical, organizational and financial issues.
  • Perform risk analyses and provide decision authority for defining and approving corrective actions and establishing priorities.

Requirements

  • A bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and 15 - 17 years of practical experience in construction.
  • An associate's degree and 17 - 19 years of practical experience would be considered equivalent.
  • A high school diploma and 19 - 21 years of practical experience would be considered equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with developing large construction contracts for line-item capital projects.
  • Experience with oversight/management of subcontract/STR programs at Savannah River Site.
  • Experience with development of STR policies/procedures at Savannah River Site.
  • Possessed an active DOE clearance (L or Q) within the past two (2) years.

Education/Yrs. Of Experience

Bachelor's degree in a technical discipline and 15 - 17 years of practical experience in construction. In-depth knowledge of construction, cost and scheduling, subcontract administration and the ability to develop or evaluate construction strategies and techniques. An associate's degree and 17 - 19 years of practical experience would be considered equivalent. A high school diploma and 19 - 21 years of practical experience would be considered equivalent.

Other Job Requirements

  • Must be a U.S. Citizen.
  • Able to obtain and maintain a DOE “Q” security clearance (an active DOE clearance is not initially required to perform assigned duties).
