Northrop Grumman Mission Systems (NGMS) sector and the Mission Next Division (MNX) is seeking a Senior Programs Director to lead the Space Payloads Operating Unit. The Payload spans all phases of programs, from early development through sustainment, with opportunities to work in a fast-paced environment. The role has P&L responsibilities for the management, strategy, and execution of the organization, reporting to the VP General Manager of MNX and located full-time onsite in Baltimore, MD.

Responsibilities

  • Build and leverage strong partnerships with cross-functional teams to meet program cost, schedule, and technical performance objectives in a matrix organizational environment
  • Establish milestones and monitor adherence to master plans and schedules, including risk/opportunity management and resolution of complex program problems
  • Identify, allocate, and manage program resources, including workforce planning
  • Cultivate a positive employee experience in a high-pressure environment by focusing on engagement, recognition, retention initiatives, and professional development
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills to deliver executive briefings internally and externally to customers, leaders, and other program stakeholders
  • Cultivate customer relationships and intimacy to develop further opportunities within the customer community
  • Develop business area strategies and new business opportunities consistent with Division/Sector priorities to drive consistent growth for the operating area
  • Participate in the negotiation of contracts, contract changes, specifications, operating budgets, schedule milestones, and key terms and conditions
  • Drive predictable program performance, including regular measurement and management of key performance metrics

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 12 or more years of program management or related experience; OR Master’s degree with 10 or more years of program management or related experience
  • Profit & Loss experience with an integrated program team
  • Proposal leadership experience
  • Demonstrated success leading teams and/or organizations to achieve a common goal; exceptional collaboration skills in a matrix environment
  • Experience leading and executing in demanding, high-visibility roles with evidence of creating an inclusive work environment that attracts, retains, and inspires diverse, engaged teams
  • Demonstrated ability to foster existing customer relationships and develop new customer relationships, particularly with Space program customers
  • Experience leading Space domain programs
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and drive strategy and critical thinking to resolve complex problems
  • Experience generating and briefing senior-level (i.e., executives) internal and external stakeholders
  • Ability to travel up to 25%
  • Must be a U.S. citizen with an active TS/SCI clearance

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in engineering and/or business administration
  • Expertise in Full Life Cycle (early S&T, EMD, Production & Sustainment) of program execution to lead the performance of tasks on schedule and at cost
  • Competitive capture experience
  • Understanding of manufacturing and process
  • Experience leading classified programs

Pay

Primary Level Salary Range: $231,100.00 – $346,700.00. The above salary range represents a general guideline; Northrop Grumman considers factors such as the scope and responsibilities of the position, candidate experience, education, skills, and current market conditions when determining base salary offers. Depending on the position, employees may be eligible for overtime, shift differential, and a discretionary bonus in addition to base pay. Annual bonuses are designed to reward individual contributions as well as allow employees to share in company results. Employees in Vice President or Director positions may be eligible for Long Term Incentives.
