Senior Program and Policy Consultant-Medicaid

About the role

BerryDunn is seeking a Senior Consultant to join our Medicaid Practice Group. The Senior Consultant will leverage their Medicaid program and policy skills along with drive, initiative, and problem-solving abilities to help Medicaid agencies improve the health and lives of individuals.

Responsibilities

• Leverage Medicaid program and policy skills to help Medicaid agencies implement waivers for children with serious emotional disorders and intellectual and developmental disabilities.
• Lead or support client initiatives where you provide subject matter knowledge and project management.
• Develop client deliverables such as program and policy recommendations, 1915c waiver amendments, complex analysis, ongoing status reports, data and technical strategy plans, and presentations.
• Build relationships with project team members including client contacts, stakeholders, federal partners, and vendor contacts.
• Communicate project and delivery status to clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
• Drive personal growth with support from a learning and development culture.
• Participate in marketing and business development activities, such as writing blog posts, attending conferences, reviewing Requests for Proposals (RFPs), and assisting with go/no-go decision-making.

Requirements

• 5 years relevant professional experience in state or federal government, healthcare, and/or consulting.
• Minimum of 3 years’ experience working directly for, or consulting directly with, a State Medicaid agency.
• Experience working with the Medicaid program and policy, including developing and/or implementing Medicaid programs and enhancements, interpreting and analyzing federal laws and regulations, documenting recommendations for achieving compliance, researching and developing State Plan Amendments (SPAs) and 1915c waivers, developing health and human services programs with home and community based services (HCBS) focused on children, youth, and families, and analyzing quality measures and applying performance change.
• Demonstrated experience with problem solving and using critical thinking skills to adapt to changing priorities in a deadline-focused environment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication and relationship building skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
