About the role
This position is for an operational and engineering support role focusing on messaging middleware. The Senior Production Support Engineer will serve as a key liaison between Production and Development teams. The role involves diagnosing issues in large, multi-datacenter, multi-tiered application environments and providing subject matter expertise on a range of technologies.
Responsibilities
- Provide NonStop Technical Support including OS, Coldloads, Safeguard, TAL, FUP, PUP, SCF, Backups, Expand, and Xypro utilities.
- Define, automate, and maintain support processes for data validation, entitlements integration, and upgrades.
- Optimize existing solutions and contribute to the design of resilient messaging architectures for low latency and high throughput.
- Develop software solutions to address manual work or inefficient processes.
- Translate business requirements into technical definitions, reference models, and blueprints for deployment.
- Coordinate with application and infrastructure teams during releases and manage implementation tasks.
- Assist with tracking vendor support tickets and work with a team to resolve urgent production issues.
- Participate in on-call support for the production environment.
Requirements
- Degree in computer science or an equivalent field.
- Minimum of 4 years of programming experience in Perl, Python, Bash, or a C derivative such as C++ or Java.
- 2 to 4 years of experience working in a UNIX/Linux production environment with numerous hosts.
- 2 to 4 years of experience with data structures and databases, including SQL and NoSQL.
- Experience with troubleshooting production applications and participating in an on-call support rotation.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of protocols such as TCP/IP, SSL/TLS, SSH, and SFTP.
- Proficiency with Linux and Windows operating systems.
- Experience with automation using Ansible.
- Familiarity with Git, Bitbucket, Jira, and Wiki.
- Basic knowledge of Middleware (AMPS, MQ, Kafka) and platform operating systems (Windows, Unix).
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with HSM support, specifically Utimaco and Futurex.
- Knowledge of general information security concepts.
- Programming experience interfacing with web and backend system interfaces.
- Experience supporting multiple authentication methods, such as Kerberos or SiteMinder.
