Senior Production Artisan

About the Role

Under the supervision of the Scene Shop Supervisor, you will construct and produce sets, environments, and fixtures that best support the on-air image, presentation, and sales of individual product, as well as maintain the style of QVC and HSN. This onsite role is based at our West Chester, PA headquarters and does not offer relocation assistance.

Schedule

Wednesdays through Saturdays, 8am to 6pm.

Responsibilities

• Construct scenery using materials such as wood, steel, aluminum, plastics, plexiglass, foams (polyurethane, polystyrene, extruded), laminates, and composites.
• Paint scenery using a variety of scene painting techniques and materials common to the industry.
• Handle load-ins and strikes of stock scenery for custom proprietary shows and special event broadcasts.
• Develop TIG and MIG welding skills.
• Monitor shop supplies by notifying supervisor of needed supplies such as hardware and lumber.
• Perform repair and maintenance of scenic assets and minor set maintenance, including daily set walks.
• Organize and maintain warehouse of sets and furniture, including repair of sets and furniture.
• Produce signs using the Gerber Edge equipment with Illustrator and Gerber software.
• Use CNC routing and 3D software and hardware for construction purposes.
• Act as the point person for the team's immediate questions on the floor.
• Guide the team through sudden priority changes on the floor (e.g., sudden live show requests to hot switch large set pieces).
• Serve as the main point person on the floor for training new employees and interns.
• Provide expert opinions on finishes and creative designs for the shop.
• Report all safety concerns or needs on the shop floor to the Supervisor.

Requirements

• 3+ years of set construction, technical, or design experience in television, theatrical, or entertainment lighting.
• High school diploma, vocational degree, or equivalent experience.
• Experience reading blueprints and floor plans.
• Experience in mechanical repairs and maintenance.
• Experience with wood, plastic, and metal fabrication, painting techniques, fabric, and vinyl.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Suite and AutoCAD 2021; Adobe Illustrator & Photoshop experience is beneficial.
• Experience with CNC, vinyl cutting and printing, and 3D printing is beneficial.
• Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in carpentry, painting, and the assembly and rigging of scenery.
