Senior Product Manager, Platform

Avathon · Pleasanton, CA · 2 days ago
Marketing$140k–$180k/yrFull-time

About the role

Avathon is the leading Industrial AI autonomy platform, helping customers across heavy industries — energy, mining, manufacturing, aerospace, defense, and logistics — accelerate the journey toward autonomous operations. Our platform is built on a Computational Knowledge Graph foundation that contextualizes and connects operational data across siloed systems, bringing together time series, structured, unstructured, and machine vision data to power AI-driven applications in asset performance management, supply chain intelligence, visual AI, and global trade management. With capabilities spanning digital twins, normal behavior modeling, natural language processing, and computer vision, Avathon delivers real-time predictive intelligence and agentic decision-making at industrial scale.

We are hiring a Senior Product Manager to own the Avathon platform: the layers every one of our applications is built on. That includes data ingestion and connectors for IT and OT systems, the ontology and Computational Knowledge Graph, the Model Hub for ML and LLM models, and the agentic AI layer. Today platform priorities are set reactively, by whatever the next deployment needs. Your job is to make the platform a product, with a clear roadmap for connectors, ontology, models and agents, so that applications and customers can build on it with less custom work. This is a product management role in Product Engineering, not a customer delivery role.

Responsibilities

Product Strategy and Roadmap

  • Own the vision, roadmap and priorities for ingestion and connectors, ontology and knowledge graph, Model Hub and the agent layer
  • Know the market. Understand Palantir Foundry and AIP, C3 AI, Databricks, Cognite and the hyperscaler AI platforms, and be clear on where Avathon wins in industrial settings
  • Own connector prioritization across OT protocols (OPC-UA, DNP3, MQTT, historians) and IT systems (SAP, Oracle and others)
  • Define the platform contracts that Planning, Logistics, PLM, asset performance and vision applications build on

Customer and Internal Discovery

  • Treat application teams, forward deployed engineers and partners as platform customers and understand what slows them down
  • Work with customers on ontology discovery and on how their data should be modeled
  • Work with security and cloud operations on deployment models: SaaS, customer cloud, on-premise and air-gapped edge
  • Track platform adoption and value, such as time to first data, connector reuse and time to deploy a model

Execution

  • Write clear requirements and acceptance criteria for platform engineering and AI science
  • Run sprint planning and release reviews with the engineering lead
  • Make trade-offs between platform investment and near-term customer needs, and communicate them clearly
  • Build developer documentation, release notes and enablement for internal teams and partners

Requirements

  • 8+ years in product management, with at least 4 years owning a data, ML, developer or platform product
  • Experience at Palantir, C3 AI, Databricks, Snowflake, Cognite, or a hyperscaler AI or data platform team (Google Cloud, AWS, Microsoft) is a strong plus
  • Deep understanding of data integration, data modeling and ontologies, and ML or LLM operations
  • Exposure to industrial data (OT systems, historians, SCADA, ERP) is a strong plus
  • Technical enough to go deep with platform engineers on APIs, data models and architecture
  • Strong written communication. You can explain a platform decision to an engineer and to a customer executive
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering or a related field. MS or MBA is a plus

Pay

Pay Range: $140k - $180k salary annually. Pay for this position is based on a number of factors including geographic location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
