About the role
The Senior Product Manager, Market Expansion - Merchant Central is responsible for leading the global expansion of a merchant lifecycle platform within the payments and fintech ecosystem. The role starts with Canada and expands into additional international markets.
Responsibilities
- Own the strategy and execution required to bring a successful SaaS product into new international markets, starting with Canada and expanding into additional regions.
- Translate market needs into scalable solutions, working across product, engineering, partnerships, compliance, and go-to-market teams.
- Lead end-to-end product initiatives for new processor integrations, including API requirements, onboarding flows, configurations, payment methods, and reconciliation processes.
- Research and define market-specific requirements, including regulations, payment preferences, currencies, localization needs, data residency, and compliance considerations.
- Create detailed product documentation including user stories, acceptance criteria, specifications, and delivery requirements.
- Manage and prioritize product backlogs, ensuring engineering teams have clear direction, priorities, and dependencies.
- Participate actively in agile delivery processes, including sprint planning, reviews, retrospectives, and roadmap reporting.
- Develop go-to-market strategies for new markets, including positioning, launch readiness, partner communications, and sales enablement.
- Collaborate with marketing teams to create messaging and materials tailored to new geographic audiences.
- Build competitive intelligence to identify market opportunities, customer expectations, and differentiation strategies.
- Partner with legal, compliance, and finance teams to address regional requirements and operational considerations.
- Define success metrics for market launches, tracking adoption, merchant growth, onboarding performance, and product usage.
- Leverage AI-powered tools for research, documentation, analysis, and product workflows to improve efficiency and decision-making.
Requirements
- Experienced product leader with a strong background in payments, fintech, or B2B SaaS who can successfully guide products into new markets.
- Proven experience launching products in new markets or geographies, from research and requirements gathering through adoption.
- Deep understanding of payment localization, including processors, payment methods, currencies, compliance requirements, and regional differences.
- Experience supporting product launches, go-to-market strategies, positioning, or sales enablement initiatives.
- Data-driven mindset with experience defining success metrics and using insights to guide product decisions.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts for technical and non-technical audiences.
- Strong familiarity with AI tools for product research, documentation, analysis, and workflow optimization.
- Experience with Canadian payment ecosystems, such as Interac, Moneris, or similar providers, is preferred.
- Knowledge of Canadian regulations such as PIPEDA, privacy requirements, FINTRAC, or Quebec-specific obligations is a plus.
- Familiarity with UK/EU payment regulations, including PSD2, GDPR, FCA frameworks, or SEPA, is advantageous.
- Experience with SaaS CRM, merchant lifecycle platforms, partner management tools, Jira, and agile product delivery is preferred.
