About the role

This US-based, remote position will help define, execute, and bring to market the product roadmap for proprietary software product applications. The Principal Product Manager acts as a keystone between business needs and product capability, combining a deep technical understanding of the products with a keen awareness of external client and internal stakeholder needs. The role spans strategic thought and tactical program execution and reports to the VP, Product Management.

Responsibilities

  • Facilitate strategy conversations and steward the business’ product roadmap for assigned software products.
  • Harvest and curate external client and internal stakeholder inputs, synthesizing them into discrete, prioritized epic-level requirements.
  • Act as the voice of the customer, translating inputs into coherent product requirements and positioning strategy.
  • Manage the prioritized backlog of requests, ideas, and defects, conditioning each into articulated tickets for Engineering and QA.
  • Define business cases, scope, market requirements, and acceptance criteria/success metrics for releases.
  • Serve as the Product Lead through agile software development processes, partnering with Technical Product Owner, UX design, development, data operations, architecture, QA, and IT Project Management.
  • Create rapid prototype apps with AI to demonstrate front-end design and user workflows.
  • Support cross-functional operations team readiness (training, certification) for new products and releases.
  • Become a company expert on external buyers and user personas, including how they buy/use the products, buying criteria, and market forces.
  • Evaluate third-party software providers’ technology and product messaging.
  • Conduct and benchmark technical and positioning competitive analysis, communicating learnings across the organization.
  • Generate original authored content (articles, selling, and training materials) consistent with positioning and highlighting key product features.
  • Understand core usage metrics of all solutions within the defined scope and core business metrics such as revenue, billed/unbilled labor hours, gross margins, and rework.
  • Support RFP/RFI responses.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of professional experience, including 8+ years of progressive experience as a product manager.
  • Strong technical background with understanding of data structures, predictive analytics, enterprise web software, and database applications.
  • Experience in an agile software development environment in a Product Owner role with working knowledge of agile processes (preferably Scrum framework).
  • Computer Science, Engineering, or related bachelor’s degree; or equivalent experience.
  • Proven depth of knowledge in software development lifecycle.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness at writing business requirements.
  • Outstanding references.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with SaaS, AI/Machine Learning, big data, information governance, or electronic discovery (eDiscovery) spaces.
  • Experience as a full-stack software developer for enterprise software.
  • Experience working in global operations and selling organizations.

Schedule

  • Remote position within the continental US; on-camera presence required for most virtual meetings.
  • Travel up to 5% for Consilio offices, client meetings, events, or trade association events worldwide.
