Senior Product Engineer (Java/Spring Boot)

For our client, we are seeking a Senior Product Engineer (Java/Spring Boot) to join the team of a leader in the Finance & Insurance space. This role will help shape and deliver scalable backend solutions that support product capabilities in a complex, regulated environment. You will partner closely with product management and engineering peers to plan work, design systems, and improve technical execution across teams. The position also emphasizes code quality, delivery discipline, and strong collaboration through Agile practices and paired programming. Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available Compensation: $100,000 – $170,500 annually Responsibilities Participate in inception and iteration planning with technical input alongside the product manager Engage in daily standups across teams to ensure effective communication Facilitate retrospectives, fostering a culture of feedback and collaboration Collaborate on high-level and low-level designs for components and systems Contribute to performance enhancement discussions and tech review meetings Practice daily paired programming and test-driven development to enhance code quality Establish and support continuous integration and deployment pipelines Qualifications 5+ years of experience developing REST APIs using Java Spring Boot and related tools for documentation and service discovery Hands-on experience architecting and delivering large-scale distributed systems and microservices Knowledge of web and API security practices including OAuth and OWASP Experience in backend development, database management, and Kafka messaging systems Familiarity with distributed version control systems (Git) and CI/CD tools like Jenkins Experience in Agile environments and paired programming methodologies Bonus: familiarity with Python and test-driven development Benefits Comprehensive technology setup including laptop, monitors, and peripherals Monthly reimbursement for home internet costs for remote work Support for a dedicated home workspace free from distractions Our client is an equal opportunity employer.
