Senior Product Engineer - Gate Valve

About the role

This position supports and maintains Stream-Flo Industries Gate Valve product lines, coordinates and executes new product line design and development, and provides engineering support across various departments.

Responsibilities

• Support and maintain Stream-Flo Industries Gate Valve product lines
• Care for new product line design and development
• Create design files and engineering bulletins for Stream-Flo Industries Gate Valve product lines
• Create and maintain engineering standards
• Prepare detailed drawings of parts, assemblies, and related items
• Engage in diverse engineering activities involving product evolution and design
• Support project personnel for specific phases or aspects of projects such as technical studies, product design, preparation of specifications and technical plans, and product testing
• Review product design for compliance with engineering principles, company standards, industry standards, customer requirements, and related specifications
• Provide necessary calculations required on new and existing products
• Provide engineering production support to machining, welding, assembly, and other departments
• Provide technical support for field service, customers, sales, and manufacturing
• Evaluate and report on new materials, technology, and techniques for improving manufacturing and service of the product line
• Interface with various departments on purchased items
• In coordination with the quality department, troubleshoot quality issues related to material rejects, material reviews, warranty issues, and custom engineering requirements (NCIR’s)
• Develop, write, and implement production procedures as it pertains to the support of engineering functions (i.e. machining, test, assembly, etc.)
• Review industry literature and stay updated on market product trends and technology
• Provide guidance to junior engineers and technical staff on technical issues, corporate policies, project management, and divisional objectives
• Ensure compliance with safety principles applicable to the project
• Identify and recommend processes for design improvement and innovation

Requirements

• Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering from a recognized University or Technical Institute
• Applicable associated professional membership
• Minimum 6 or more years of Product Design Experience
• Proficient with and experience in the use of ANSI, ASME, and ISO Drafting Techniques and Geometric Tolerance
• Thorough knowledge of API 6A and related API / ISO Product Requirements
• Thorough knowledge of Stress Analysis
• Thorough knowledge of the Development and Control of Design Documentation
• Thorough knowledge of Internal Economic Factors
• Proficient Technical Writing
• Thorough knowledge of gate valve industry and all competitors
• Thorough knowledge of the specialized area of product expertise and overall industry
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables and situations where only limited standardization exists
• Extensive customer relations and technical sales experience
• Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form
• Field installation experience
