Senior Product Engineer
About the Role
We are seeking a motivated Senior Product Engineer to join our growing production team. This role is ideal for an experienced, highly technical engineer who is passionate about improving manufacturing processes, throughput, and yield across a product line. The Senior Product Engineer will play a key role in maturing manufacturing processes, developing robust documentation and controls, and supporting the successful growth of high-voltage, high-power products. Candidates with strong experience in high-power electronics and new product introduction (NPI) will be highly competitive.
Certain positions at Precision Power Solution require access to information or technology that is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) and other U.S. government security regulations. Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary engineering liaison between Design Engineering, Production, Quality, Supply Chain, and Technicians
- Lead the transition and ongoing manufacturing of high-voltage, high-power products
- Partner with Design Engineering during NPI to ensure designs incorporate DFM, DFA, and DFT principles
- Drive manufacturing readiness and lifecycle support for assigned products to ensure manufacturability, repeatability, and alignment with quality, cost, and delivery goals
- Lead and support continuous improvement initiatives by identifying inefficiencies, implementing corrective actions, and standardizing best practices
- Develop, validate, and maintain manufacturing documentation including work instructions, SOPs, BOMs, assembly drawings, and process specifications
- Review and approve engineering documentation to ensure compliance with standards, customer requirements, and QMS expectations
- Investigate manufacturing issues and field failures using structured root-cause methodologies (DMAIC, 8D, 5-Why, fishbone) and implement effective CAPAs
- Design and implement tooling, fixtures, test equipment, and manufacturing aids to improve product quality and production consistency
- Provide technical support to manufacturing teams, troubleshooting electrical, mechanical, and electromechanical systems
- Ensure manufacturing processes comply with safety standards, regulations, and company quality management system requirements—especially those related to high-voltage systems
- Participate in prototype builds, pilot runs, process qualifications, and readiness reviews
- Support supplier quality initiatives by evaluating components, reviewing process changes, and contributing to supplier development
- Champion a culture of operational excellence through Lean, Six Sigma, and continuous improvement methodologies
- Mentor manufacturing technicians on new processes, engineering changes, and best practices
- Maintain accurate engineering documentation and ensure all records stay current and properly controlled
- Perform other duties as assigned
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Chemical, Materials, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related field)
- Advanced degree or 5+ years of product engineering experience in an electromechanical manufacturing environment
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
- Experience working with ERP, PLM, and MES systems (SAP, Oracle, Windchill, etc.)
- Strong understanding of manufacturing process techniques for electronic and electromechanical assemblies
- Complex troubleshooting skills for CCAs/PCBAs and electromechanical assemblies
- Ability to read and interpret schematics
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Strong technical writing skills and effective cross-functional collaboration abilities
- Ability to work independently while managing multiple priorities
- Strong decision-making, analytical, and data-driven problem-solving skills
- Authorization to work in the United States
Qualifications (Preferred)
- Direct experience in high-voltage, high-power electronics manufacturing
- Experience supporting or leading NPI activities
- Six Sigma Green Belt certification or higher
- IPC-610 or IPC-620 certification, training, or equivalent experience
- ASQ Certified Quality Engineer or equivalent credential
- ISO 9001 auditor certification
