Senior Product Development Engineer

About the role

Molex Busbar is seeking a Senior Product Development Engineer to support engineering and design activities. The ideal candidate will lead the design and development of new custom busbar solutions for various industries.

Responsibilities

• Develop new product designs from concept to production
• Interact directly with customers to verify requirements and make design recommendations
• Lead design-for-manufacturing (DFM) efforts, considering cost-effective materials and processes
• Work closely with supporting design and manufacturing engineers throughout the full design cycle
• Collaborate with manufacturing teams to develop cost estimates and project options
• Travel to visit customers and manufacturing facilities as needed
• Interface with external clients and internal partners to ensure design objectives are met
• Perform hands-on activities including mechanical screen tests, prototype fabrication, and part measurements

Requirements

• Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering or related technical field
• 8+ years of related experience, preferably in busbar design and development
• Strong knowledge of different types of busbars and their applications
• Advanced in solid modeling to generate 3D models & 2D drawings
• Strong understanding of busbar manufacturing processes
• Advanced knowledge of reading technical drawings and understanding GD&T
• Education and/or training in metal fabrication, stamping, plating, and/or assembly

Qualifications

• Experience with Siemens NX 2D and 3D CAD
• Experience with laminated, flexible, and extruded busbars
• Experience with high power/high voltage systems
• Experience working with IT/Telecom and Datacenter customers
• Ability to multi-task and manage multiple projects
• Ability to work effectively within a team environment
• Ability to develop and meet project schedules, along with contingency plans
• Ability to think big picture and identify future needs
• Ability to analyze information and solve problems with sound solutions

Benefits

The anticipated salary range for this position is $130,000 - $180,000 per year. This role is eligible for variable pay, which may include a monetary bonus or other forms of compensation. For more information on our benefits, please refer to the "Our Benefits" section.
