About the role
Burns & McDonnell’s growing Water Practice is in search of a Senior Water/Wastewater Process Engineer. Our passion started with water, and our solutions continue to evolve with the ever-changing needs of municipal and industrial clients.
Responsibilities
- Lead process design on projects ranging from treatment and conveyance systems to industrial water/wastewater treatment and utility systems.
- Perform day-to-day process technical work, project planning, and management of scope, schedule, and budget.
- Develop critical project objectives and performance goals; interact with clients on technical matters as needed.
- Support client development and technical sales, proposal preparation, and technical presentations; coordinate with regulatory agencies as applicable.
- Expand career growth opportunities within a rapidly growing national water practice.
- Plan, organize, and communicate project technical needs to department management; mentor junior staff.
- Provide support to design-build project deliveries for water and wastewater projects in collaboration with Burns & McDonnell’s Construction/Design-build group.
Requirements
- Bachelor Degree in Chemical Engineering or related degree from an ABET accredited program and 7 years process engineering experience required. EPC project experience preferred.
- Bachelor Degree in Chemical or related Engineering Technology from an ABET accredited program and successful completion of Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam and 7 years process engineering experience required. EPC project experience preferred.
- Master Degree in Chemical Engineering and 6 years process engineering experience required. EPC project experience preferred.
- Background in water or wastewater process engineering, including treatment systems, plant facilities, or industrial water utilities preferred.
- Ability to work effectively with a wide variety of industry, government, and public clients is preferred. Existing relationships with local or statewide clients is a plus.
- Expert knowledge in standard engineering techniques and procedures. Strong knowledge of process design codes (ASME, ANSI, API, PIP, NACE).
- Strong computer skills (e.g. Microsoft Office Suite). Strong computer skills include process simulation software (i.e. Hysys and/or Aspen, HTRI) is preferred.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Experience with leading the discipline design for large projects and delegating work tasks to team members. Ability to lead execution of work and resolve issues in a team environment.
- Demonstrated critical thinking skills, ability to work methodically and analytically in a quantitative problem-solving environment.
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, team building, collaboration, organization and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to perform quality reviews for detailed engineering documents and specifications.
- Ability to travel.
- Professional Engineer (PE) License preferred.
