Senior Privacy Engineer

For a leader in the Finance & Insurance space, we are seeking a Senior Privacy Engineer to provide business-aligned guidance focused on governance, compliance, and operational risk management. Partner with leaders, compliance stakeholders, and cross-functional teams to translate complex issues into practical recommendations. Strengthen responsible execution, improve decision-making, and support sustainable growth within a regulated financial services environment.

Location: Remote - US based candidates only, no visa sponsorship available

Responsibilities

• Design and operate privacy engineering services for data governance and user control
• Implement privacy-by-design patterns and data minimization controls across products and systems
• Develop APIs and tools for standardizing privacy enforcement across the tech stack
• Partner with multiple teams to convert privacy requirements into technical specifications
• Conduct privacy reviews and risk assessments for new products and capabilities
• Enhance the reliability and maintainability of privacy systems through proper design and documentation

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or related field, or equivalent practical experience, and 3+ years experience in software engineering
• Proven experience in building and operating production software systems with languages like Python, Go, Java, Scala, C++, or Rust
• Experience in creating APIs, microservices, libraries, or backend services focused on data governance and privacy controls
• Hands-on knowledge in at least two privacy/security domains such as anonymization, data retention, access control, or encryption
• Ability to translate privacy, security, compliance, or data protection requirements into software systems

Pay

$164,800 – $228,400 annually
