About the Role

Raytheon’s Effector RF Design Team is seeking a Senior Principal Engineer to lead and shape the design and implementation of antenna, radome, and/or radar cross section (RCS) ranges and chambers. The selected candidate will provide technical oversight, delegate tasks, establish technology roadmaps, enable modernization, and contribute to innovation. This role involves collaboration with government personnel and programs to define and validate range and chamber compliance, as well as mentoring employees across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Develop antenna, radome, advanced sensor systems, and/or RCS ranges/chambers.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary engineering teams (thermal, structural, mechanical, systems, etc.) to define, analyze, simulate, implement, and evaluate requirements for ranges and chambers, including relevant test equipment.
  • Work with chamber/range equipment and service suppliers.
  • Oversee implementation of new ranges/chambers.
  • Lead teams, provide technical oversight, and drive technical execution plans.
  • Define and refine requirements to validate range and chamber compliance in coordination with government personnel and programs.
  • Provide guidance, coaching, mentoring, and training to employees within your areas of expertise.

Requirements

  • Bachelor of Science degree in Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM).
  • Minimum of 10 years of prior relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 8 years of experience, including any combination of the following:
    • Testing of antennas or radomes in a chamber or test range.
    • Operation of an antenna, radome, and/or RCS chamber/range.
    • Demonstrated knowledge of antenna and/or sensor measurement theory and range operation.
  • Ability to obtain interim U.S. government issued security clearance prior to start date, with the ability to obtain special program access after start.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master of Science (MS) or PhD in electrical engineering.
  • Significant experience simulating and/or estimating the effects of propagation, reflections, and scattering on an antenna under test (AUT) in an anechoic chamber.
  • Measurement of hardware for RCS.
  • Significant experience specifying, building, and validating antenna, radome, and/or RCS ranges/chambers.
  • Proficiency with Python, MATLAB, and/or other high-level scientific programming languages.
  • Proficiency with high-performance computing (HPC) environments and schedulers such as SLURM.
  • Proficiency with modeling & simulation tools such as HFSS, CST, FEKO, SENTRi, and GRASP.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities from multiple sources.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and positive interaction in a team environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to drive technical execution plans.
  • Knowledgeable of management processes, such as Earned Value.
  • Experience presenting in technical reviews.
  • Understanding of near-field-to-far-field processing algorithms.
  • Experience designing and testing datalink, flight termination, telemetry, and/or GPS antenna systems.
  • Experience as a Cost Account Manager or Integrated Product Team Lead.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $132,400 – $251,600 USD. The range is representative of all experience levels, and RTX considers factors such as role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills when extending an offer.
