About the role

Process Engineers in Product Development Science & Technology support API projects through all phases of late-stage development and commercialization. Once commercialized, process engineers are responsible for continuous improvement activities, technical transfer to manufacturing sites, and resolution of technical manufacturing issues in a commercial setting.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and achieve discipline strategy in alignment with functional goals and key scientific objectives.
  • Advance scientific expertise in process engineering fields as it relates to new products and new process technologies.
  • Proactively demonstrate leadership by advising and sharing knowledge and expert opinions with subordinates, peers, and senior management.
  • Mentor and train functional colleagues and assess current and emerging business challenges enabling functional goal achievement.
  • Ensure quality and effectiveness of key results of major project plans within function through sound design, early risk assessments, and implementation of fallback strategies.
  • Source and identify emerging scientific trends from multiple internal and external sources and assess relevance; integrate trends into functional short-term objectives.
  • Advance cross-discipline technology and direction utilizing fundamental knowledge of engineering and review of literature.
  • Apply imagination and innovation by creating, inventing, and implementing new or better approaches, alternatives, and breakthrough ideas valued by customers within the function.
  • Present scientific concepts and results for functional scientific and non-scientific leaders as well as potential and existing partners to maximize impact and value of expertise.
  • Responsible for compliance with applicable Corporate and Divisional Policies and procedures.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent education in a Science-related field with extensive (typically 18 years) of related work experience.
  • Master’s Degree or equivalent education in Science or PharmD or equivalent education with extensive (typically 16 years) of related work experience.
  • PhD in Science or related field with typically 10 years of related work experience.
  • Experience in process development and/or technical support of commercial processes, preferably in peptide processing-related technologies.
  • Proven ability to innovate with a history of new or improved product releases.
  • Ability to interact well with diverse groups within the function and maintain strong working relationships with internal and external collaborators.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others across areas of scientific disciplines.
  • Strong verbal, written, and presentation skills.
