About the Role
Raytheon’s Airborne Sensor RF Design Department is seeking a Senior Principal Mechanical Engineer to perform section leadership, personnel management, and mechanical design, test, integration, and documentation for RF systems and sub-systems. The role involves following established procedures while working closely with program and functional leadership to meet technical, cost, schedule, quality, and performance goals.
Responsibilities
- Develop and implement technical solutions for complex mechanical engineering problems related to RF systems and sub-systems.
- Lead a section of technical personnel, facilitating career development and ensuring team objectives are met.
- Ensure work products meet cost, schedule, quality, and performance requirements.
- Collaborate with program and functional leadership to align technical goals with broader organizational objectives.
Requirements
- Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with at least 7 years of experience.
- Experience with mechanical design and integration of RF systems or sub-systems.
- U.S. citizenship (required for security clearance eligibility).
- Active and transferable U.S. government-issued DoD Secret security clearance (required prior to start date).
Preferred Qualifications
- Expert or mastery-level knowledge in mechanical engineering, often obtained through advanced education and extensive experience.
- Deep knowledge of project management and related disciplines within the work area.
- Ability to identify links and potential impacts on projects, programs, or systems.

Pay
The salary range for this role is $132,400 – $251,600 USD. The final offer considers factors such as role, function, responsibilities, work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
