Senior/Principal Engineer – OpenSearch
About the Job
DTEX is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Engineer – OpenSearch to join our engineering team. In this role, you will lead the development and optimization of large-scale OpenSearch clusters, contribute to our Insider Risk Management (IRM) and Data Loss Prevention (DLP) products, and actively engage with the open-source community. You’ll work closely with internal teams, clients, and global collaborators to drive innovation in search technologies.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a consultant, advisor, and mentor to internal and external search practitioners.
- Attend client and internal meetings to align technical solutions with business needs.
- Actively contribute to the OpenSearch community and participate in public forums.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams and open-source contributors to drive innovation.
- Design and implement new features, enhancements, and bug fixes for DTEX’s IRM and AI Risk Management products.
- Manage and fine-tune large-scale OpenSearch clusters with terabytes of data.
- Apply recommended development and operational expertise to cloud-hosted OpenSearch environments.
- Rapidly iterate on solutions while maintaining high quality standards.
- Work effectively with a globally distributed team.
Qualifications
- Minimum 10 years of software engineering experience.
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field.
- Deep expertise in OpenSearch internals while handling terabytes of data across multiple nodes.
- Proficiency in data management: ingestion pipelines, field mappings, cluster integrity, and search/aggregation tuning.
- Proven experience migrating large-scale Elasticsearch 6.x clustered deployments to OpenSearch 2.x or above.
- Strong proficiency in Python and good understanding of JVM ecosystems.
- Solid understanding of algorithms, data structures, and software design principles.
- Experience building distributed, high-throughput, and concurrent applications.
- Hands on experience with major cloud platforms, preferably AWS.
- Skilled in debugging complex issues and engaging with upstream open-source communities.
