Senior Principal Engineer (Generative AI Strategy)

About the role

This position is responsible for defining and leading the engineering approach and strategy for AI solutions across Global Markets Regulatory Reporting (GM Reg Reporting), delivering significant business outcomes. The role involves continuously improving the design, quality, and reuse of solutions while delivering technology enablers that enhance development efficiencies. The Senior Principal Engineer will act as a key technical reference across the organization, applying expertise to improve technical competencies and drive the Generative AI strategy.

Global Markets Regulatory Reporting Operations Technology is a global team with locations in New York City, Charlotte, London, Ireland, and India. The role focuses on leveraging Generative AI to derive insights from large structured and unstructured datasets, using both proprietary and open-source Large Language Models to produce actionable insights for Global Markets and its clients.

Responsibilities

• Develop the engineering approach for the entire program/portfolio solution, collaborating with Architecture to analyze and deliver technical enablers.
• Lead the planning, definition, and design of complex features spanning multiple teams, exploring solution alternatives.
• Create innovative approaches for designing complex technology and solution development.
• Provide technical oversight for teams in solution development, including design reviews and code within the domain.
• Define the technology tool stack for solutions using internally approved and supported technologies.
• Explore state-of-the-art technologies to improve development efficiencies, test/QA coverage, and release management.
• Lead and own the end-to-end test strategy, creation, adherence, and integration between teams for program/portfolio solutions.
• Partner with the Global Markets GenAI Technology team to promote and implement the bank’s Generative AI tools across Regulatory Reporting teams.

Requirements

• 10+ years of relevant experience.
• Strong experience in Machine Learning, Data Analytics, and AI.
• Experience implementing Generative AI solutions is highly desirable.
• Knowledge of Generative AI and machine learning frameworks, products, and tools for agentic solutions.
• Extensive experience designing and implementing multi-tier application platforms, including microservices.
• Advanced proficiency in Python, including object-oriented techniques and REST API development.
• In-depth knowledge of databases, large structured and unstructured dataset processing, and messaging.
• Proven ability to partner effectively with business stakeholders to drive technology strategy and align with organizational goals.
• Self-starter attitude with the ability to quickly adapt to new technologies and industry trends.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work independently and collaboratively.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering.
• Experience in Capital Markets or a similar environment (desired).
