Airswift is seeking an Electrical Wiring Designer for a major oil and gas client in Reading, PA.
About the Role
You will provide electrical design and drafting services to the EPC and its customers.
Responsibilities
- Provide discipline team supervision by directing project execution activities and preparing discipline-specific deliverables for one large or several smaller projects.
- Work within a team environment with minimal supervision, adhering to client, company, and industry standards.
- Perform moderately to difficult drafting assignments using established techniques, standards, practices, and software.
- Apply company procedures relevant to the electrical discipline.
- Oversee the preparation of design and detail drawings from sketches, plans, or other design/specification data.
- Take responsibility for the design and drafting of HV and LV electrical installations.
- Direct the work of junior designers and coordinate work-sharing activities to ensure drawings meet client requirements and project specifications.
- Participate in design reviews with clients and advise on technical design, drafting issues, and compliance requirements.
- Perform point-to-point reviews on complete electrical design packages.
- Demonstrate a proven track record of completing work scopes within time and budget constraints.
- Develop layouts, plans, sections, elevations, and details for facilities and equipment using reference drawings or catalogues, and perform routine calculations.
- Perform dimensional and routine calculations required for drawing preparation, and record and file electrical discipline documents.
- Travel to job sites to perform panel audits and walk down raceway routing.
- Ensure work complies with the provisions and guidelines of the Quality Assurance system relevant to the project.
Requirements
- Extensive experience in electrical design.
- Proficiency with Smartplant Electrical (SPEL), Smartplant Instrumentation (SPI), AutoCAD, and MicroStation design software packages; AVEVA E3D is a plus.
- Experience with Smart Plant 3D and participation in 3D model reviews.
- Specialization in:
- Detailed drawings for lighting, small power, and earthing systems.
- HV/LV single line diagrams, wiring and control schematic diagrams.
- AC/DC distribution panels, process area electrical equipment layouts.
- Substation and switchyard layouts, cable tray, above-grade and underground cable layouts.
- Duct bank sizing and layouts, preparation of installation details, grounding plans, lightning layouts.
- Cable schedules, cable pulling calculations, cable tray sizing calculations, cable selection and sizing calculations.
- Lighting calculations (using software such as AGI32).
Qualifications
- A Degree or 2–3 year technical diploma with discipline-specific training.
- An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience in electrical design and drafting is preferred.
