Senior Principal DevSecOps Engineer (Remote)

Remote role based in the U.S. with up to 25% travel to the Fulton, MD site for meetings and customer engagements. U.S. citizenship is required to obtain and maintain an active DoD Secret security clearance.

About the role

Collins Aerospace, part of RTX, is seeking a Senior Principal DevSecOps Engineer to lead the transformation of existing DevSecOps pipelines using modern tools and approaches. This role involves coordinating efforts across engineering, IT, and cybersecurity teams to design, implement, and maintain a secure and efficient DevSecOps platform for Multi-Sensor, Information Fusion, Situational Awareness, and Visualization technologies.

Responsibilities

• Enhance and maintain existing software development pipelines, extending them to include automated deployment and test (CI/CD).
• Proactively research new CI/CD solutions, tools, and capabilities, developing migration strategies for adoption.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams (software, integration & test) to address bottlenecks, automate testing, improve efficiency, and increase software security.
• Standardize and document DevOps processes and train team members.
• Support the IT department in administering and maintaining tools to ensure compliance with security requirements.
• Provision new projects, software source code, configuration repositories, and user access.

Requirements

• Experience with automated software build, test, and deployment.
• Experience implementing a DevSecOps platform such as GitLab.
• Experience with CI/CD pipeline tools: Maven, Make, Git, Docker, Buildkit, Artifactory, Sonatype, Jenkins.
• Experience with container orchestration applications such as Kubernetes.
• Scripting experience in a Linux environment (e.g., Perl, Python, Bash).
• Experience supporting software solutions in virtualized environments (e.g., VMWare, Containers).
• Experience investigating, adjudicating, and resolving security issues in third-party software, Docker images, and development environments.
• Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) with a minimum of 10 years of relevant experience, or an Advanced Degree with 7 years of experience.
• U.S. citizenship and ability to obtain and maintain a DoD Secret security clearance (active clearance required after day 1).

Preferred Qualifications

• Software development and configuration management experience with languages such as C++, Java, Angular, JavaScript, or Groovy.
• Familiarity with deployment tools such as Helm charts or Ansible.
• Familiarity with static code analysis tools (e.g., Fortify, Coverity) and unit test frameworks (e.g., JUnit, Google Mock).
• Familiarity with Agile concepts and methodologies.
• Working knowledge of system administration (RHEL, Windows) and networking.
• Experience with DoD Enterprise DevOps initiatives and Platform One.
• Highly organized with strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Pay

The salary range for this role is $132,400 – $251,600 USD.
