About the role

This position serves as the electrical subject-matter expert for Brasfield & Gorrie’s preconstruction departments across all regions, supporting preconstruction managers with electrical-specific expertise, conceptual budgeting guidance, procurement strategy, vendor relationship knowledge, and training.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the preconstruction department's internal electrical subject-matter expert, providing support on active pursuits and projects.
  • Develop conceptual and schematic-level electrical budgets to support early pursuit strategy, feasibility studies, and owner/design team conversations.
  • Partner with lead preconstruction managers to validate electrical scope, pricing assumptions, and risk areas on complex or large, high-risk projects.
  • Help implement and refine procurement strategies, including trade packaging, early release packages, design-assist, RFP development, and bid leveling support.
  • Leverage prior experience to advise on electrical market conditions, production rates, vendor capabilities, and buyout strategy.
  • Maintain and grow relationships with electrical trade partners and vendors to support market intelligence and procurement decisions company-wide.
  • Develop, teach, and deliver internal training on electrical systems, estimating best practices, and conceptual budgeting for the broader preconstruction team.
  • Capture, standardize, and maintain historical electrical cost data, production rates, and benchmarking metrics from completed projects to improve the accuracy of future conceptual estimates.
  • Participate in project reviews, estimate reviews, and risk assessment meetings as an electrical advisor.
  • Stay current on electrical costs, systems, codes, technologies, and market trends.
  • Travel may be necessary depending on project and regional support needs.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in electrical estimating, subcontracting, or electrical preconstruction, ideally including experience working for an electrical subcontractor or vendor.
  • Deep knowledge of electrical systems, installation methods, and production rates across electrical scopes.
  • Strong working knowledge of electrical vendor and subcontractor markets, with established relationships and clear vendor communication skills.
  • Demonstrated experience developing conceptual/schematic-level electrical budgets and estimates, particularly on large or complex projects.
  • Strong analytical skills with the ability to organize and maintain historical cost data and benchmarking metrics.
  • Proficiency with estimating and preconstruction software and Microsoft Office products.
  • Self-directed and comfortable operating as a department-wide resource rather than a single-project team member.
