About the role
The Senior Power Electronics Test Engineer position is located in Raleigh, NC. The annual salary range for this role is $94,000 - $138,000.
Responsibilities
- Support product design and development of high-power three-phase UPS, Energy Storage, and medium voltage product lines.
- Design and develop new products including SiC three-phase UPS's from 20kW to 2.5MW and Lithium Ion 1MW and larger energy storage systems.
- Specify and qualify electrical components and create circuit diagrams, harness designs, and BOM development.
- Work with global product development teams to solve problems related to performance, functionality, safety, reliability, quality, and component availability.
- Support product Design for Manufacturing (DFM) and long-term serviceability during layout design.
- Participate in project-wide reviews of requirements, system architecture, and detailed design documents.
- Collaborate with regulatory experts to ensure design meets UL and other certification body requirements.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with minimum three (3) years work experience in power electronics.
- Minimum two (2) years of hands-on experience in electrical design, lab testing, and trouble-shooting.
- Preferred: Master's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution with a minimum of one (1) year work experience in power electronic circuit design.
- Ability to interpret and create electrical drawings, schematics, and specifications.
- Solid knowledge of electrical components, electrical safety, EMC, and regulatory requirements.
- Understanding of layout design principles and familiarity with schematic entry and PCB design tools like Altium, Cadence, etc.
- Knowledge of three-phase power systems, power electronics, and power conversion topologies.
- Experience applying digital control and algorithms to power electronics systems.
- Understanding of Magnetics Design for high-frequency Power Electronics.
- Competent with Matlab/Simulink/PLECS and PSPICE.
- Analyzing and simulating power electronics systems from board level to complex products.
