About the Role
Support the Organizational and Management Policy Directorate within the Director of Administration and Management in the Office of Secretary of War (OSW). Aid with tracking, supporting, and assessing strategic initiatives, senior leader decision support bodies, organizational governance structures, and institutionalization of management reforms.
Responsibilities
- Analyze mission-related issues and conduct ad hoc research to support development and review of Department of War (DoW) policies related to organizational governance structures and management reforms.
- Support activity tracking and reporting on various governance forums.
- Assist with preparing briefing material for senior leader decision making and information.
- Gather information on the status of strategic initiatives; compile and analyze data; and support briefings and task development.
- Prepare briefings on findings of significance related to governance initiatives/proposals.
- Utilize, configure, and maintain knowledge management/decision support tools, particularly MS SharePoint, to provide online sources for governance information for the DoW.
- Coordinate with external stakeholders to ensure timely completion of tasks.
- Advise government personnel in correctly preparing and coordinating policy documentation.
- Rapidly synthesize complex information for senior leader decision making.
- Interact and build relationships with staff from various DoW Components.
- Provide administrative/meeting operations support and facilitate, promote, and integrate required analytical support for Secretary and Deputy Secretary-led governance processes, as necessary.
Requirements
- 6+ years of experience supporting OSW, with 3+ years directly supporting organizational and management policy development and senior governance activities within OSW or the senior levels of the Military Departments.
- 3+ years of experience managing, utilizing, and maximizing efficiencies with state-of-the-art web-based collaborative tools (e.g., SharePoint) using knowledge management best practices.
- Knowledge of current DoW functions and organization.
- Working knowledge of DoW issuance and policy guidance coordination procedures.
- Excellent communication skills with senior officials and senior staff.
- Commitment to exceptional client service and professionalism while working at the client site.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and common office software applications.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field and at least 6 years of experience; Master’s degree preferred.
Pay
Target salary range: $80,001 – $120,000, based on experience.
