Launched in 2021, Fanatics Betting and Gaming (FBG) is the online and retail sports betting subsidiary of Fanatics. The Fanatics Sportsbook is available to 95% of the U.S. online sports bettor market, and Fanatics Casino operates in multiple states. FBG also runs 22 retail sports betting locations, including the only sportsbook inside an NFL stadium.

Platform Engineering builds and operates the core engineering platform enabling product teams across FBG to ship reliably, safely, and quickly. The team owns foundational AWS infrastructure, Terraform infrastructure-as-code, CI/CD governance, observability, and developer tooling, treating developers as customers.

About the Role

Fanatics Betting & Gaming (FBG) is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join the Platform Engineering team, working in either the Runtime/Compute or Developer Experience/CI-CD squad. This role involves working across cloud infrastructure, Kubernetes platforms, CI/CD systems, and internal developer tooling to enhance reliability, scalability, and developer productivity.

Responsibilities

  • Own and deliver medium-to-large platform projects from implementation through production.
  • Build and maintain internal platform services and tooling that improve developer experience and delivery velocity.
  • Partner with application teams to unblock delivery and align platform capabilities with developer needs.
  • Drive cloud cost efficiency and optimization across our cloud and infrastructure footprint.
  • Improve operational excellence through observability, automation, and incident response.
  • Help evolve CI/CD pipelines and GitOps-based workflows.
  • Mentor junior engineers through code reviews and knowledge sharing.
  • Participate in on-call rotations and incident response.

Requirements

  • 5–7 years of experience in platform, infrastructure, DevOps, or software engineering.
  • Proficiency with Python and Java; familiarity with Kotlin or Go is a plus.
  • Deep Kubernetes and container orchestration knowledge.
  • Proven CI/CD and GitOps experience.
  • Infrastructure as Code expertise (Terraform).
  • Strong AWS and cloud-native experience.
  • Experience operating distributed, high-availability systems.
  • Strong ownership mindset and ability to deliver defined projects independently.
  • Clear communication and strong collaboration skills.

Nice to Have

  • Experience with internal developer platforms or tooling.
  • Exposure to regulated or high-availability environments.
  • Backend development experience (Java, Python, Go, or similar).
  • Familiarity with observability and reliability engineering practices.

Pay

Salary Range: $146,880 - $183,600 USD
