Senior Planner- Long Range

Horry County Government is seeking a Senior Planner to focus on long-range planning activities in Conway, SC.

About the role

The Senior Planner will be immersed in and responsible for a variety of long-range planning activities within the department, including data analysis, spatial analysis, maintenance and updates to the Comprehensive Plan, development of area and community plans, assistance with capital planning, and managing special projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop, manage, and prepare Planning & Zoning (P&Z) staff GIS dashboards
• Perform advanced professional work related to a variety of planning assignments
• Manage complex planning studies and development applications
• Review and process complex projects related to the Comprehensive Plan
• Coordinate all planning activities, capital planning, and Transportation Plans
• Prepare and present planning reports and projects
• Facilitate relationships with appointed officials or other decision-makers
• Gather relevant information to solve less well-defined planning problems
• Facilitate community workshops
• Work on several projects or issues simultaneously

Requirements

• Master’s Degree in Urban and Regional Planning, Landscape Architecture, Public Administration, Architecture, Engineering, Environmental Science, or other related field with a minimum of one to two years of experience, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
• Experience with ArcGIS and/or Adobe Creative Suite; Python experience is a plus
• Willingness to furnish writing and mapping samples at time of interview
• Ability to pass required pre-employment physical and background check
