About the role

Moog Military Aircraft LLC is seeking a Sr. Planner/Buyer for our Turreted Weapon Systems Business Unit, Defense Division. In this role, you will make critical contributions to procurement strategy, supplier management, and material availability to support manufacturing and project timelines.

Responsibilities

• Manage the development and execution of procurement strategies for assigned categories.
• Develop and maintain professional and productive relationships with internal customers, stakeholders, and external suppliers across all Operating Groups.
• Collaborate with the Legal team to conduct vendor negotiations related to material and services, including price, quality, specifications, and delivery to meet project requirements; ensure supplier delivery schedules and quality support timelines.
• Conduct global market research to identify potential new suppliers and products; lead cross-functional teams to qualify suppliers and optimize the supply base where applicable.
• Execute RFQs for designated categories to assess supplier capabilities, risks, pricing, and services, focusing on total cost of ownership.
• Source domestically and internationally for the procurement of direct and indirect materials to support manufacturing needs.
• Maintain internal records and system data fields for purchasing lead times, inventory accuracy, and supplier performance.
• Comply with all SOX requirements and approved processes and procedures.
• Review MRP requirements and inventory on-hand balances to ensure material availability using ERP systems.
• Review and understand drawings, material specifications, and engineering specifications.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Engineering, Finance, or a related technical field is required.
• Minimum of 5 years of progressive procurement experience in manufacturing or engineering, typically post-education.
• 2-5 years of experience in a sourcing organization or relevant business/commercial experience.
• Advanced proficiency in Excel, PowerPoint, MS Office, MRP, SAP, and Ariba; experience implementing SAP systems is a plus.
• Established procurement skillset, including sourcing indirect categories, negotiation, strategy development and execution, contract development, financial analysis, market analysis, supplier diversity, and management.
• Demonstrated experience identifying and developing procurement tools and reports.
• Proven ability to utilize industry information and benchmarking, research global markets, interpret stakeholder requirements, and leverage data analytics to evaluate strategies and execute tactics for sustainable sourcing solutions.

Preferred Qualifications

• MBA preferred.
• Project/Program Management experience.
• Certification in Purchasing, Supply Chain, or Program Management (e.g., ISM-CPM/CPSM, APICs-CPIM).
• Knowledge of procurement and contractual law.

Pay

Santa Barbara, CA: $115,000.00–$148,000.00 annually.

The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Moog salary range for this position in the given work location. Actual salaries will vary depending on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is one component of Moog's total compensation package, which may also include annual bonuses, employee stock purchase plan, and region-specific benefits.
