We are seeking a highly motivated Senior Planner to join our dynamic Planning Department Team. Our Planning Department offers a wide range of planning services, from preparation of comprehensive master plans, redevelopment plans, and affordable housing services to providing board services to various Planning and Zoning Boards. This position will be located at our Albany, New York office.
Responsibilities
- Perform technical research and writing, document preparation and publication.
- Complete all aspects of public engagement: presentation materials, community surveys, stakeholder interviews, website setup, and community meetings.
- Attend community public meetings and hearings.
- Prepare comprehensive plans, zoning regulations/form-based codes, design guidelines, and other community plans.
- Develop strategies for communities throughout New York.
- Conduct environmental review (SEQRA/NEPA), including preparation of Environmental Impact Statements.
- Collaborate with other team members on a variety of projects.
- Serve as a trusted advisor to municipal clients, manage planning projects from inception through implementation, facilitate public outreach, and mentor junior staff.
Requirements
- Master’s Degree in Planning or related field.
- Minimum of 8+ years of practical experience in a professional consulting environment, including a Project Management/leadership role.
- Certified by the American Institute of Certified Planners (AICP).
- Demonstrated excellence in technical writing, experience in preparing budgets/work plans and proposals.
- Accomplished in the management of multiple projects with excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Experience in staff supervision.
- Ability to interact effectively with clients, project teams, and colleagues internally and externally.
- Ability to work as a member of a team on multiple projects in different phases at the same time.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet project deadlines.
Skills
- Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office, Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with ESRI ArcGIS software.
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite.
Pay
$90,000 - $110,000 / year
