Current & Long-Range Planning

Manage High-Impact Files: Drive the end-to-end scoping, execution, and public recording of at least 10 active, highly complex, or politically sensitive land-use files.

Analyze & Review: Evaluate project applications against Eagle County Land Use Regulations, state statutes, and federal environmental guidelines.

Shape Policy: Formulate data-driven policy updates, process text amendments, and partner with the GIS team to draft high-quality written reports, white papers, and studies.

Lead Regional Initiatives: Manage consultant procurement and direct multi-departmental project timelines on an as-needed basis.

Public Service & Collaboration

Build Strategic Alliances: Foster collaborative partnerships across Engineering, Resiliency, the County Attorney’s Office, non-profits, and external regional stakeholders.

Public Representation: Lead weekly Development Review Team meetings, pre-application forums, and present critical findings at public hearings.

Support & Mentor: Share expertise to guide, train, and coach junior planners and administrative staff while supporting Planner of the Day (POD) public inquiries.

Qualifications

  • The Groundwork: Bachelor’s degree in Urban/Regional Planning or a closely related field, paired with at least 6 years of professional planning experience (Local government experience is heavily preferred).
  • The Advanced Edge: A Master’s degree can substitute for 2 years of experience. An active AICP certification is highly desirable.
  • Complex Case History: Minimum of 1 year of proven success managing and presenting complex, politically sensitive files (e.g., commercial development, mixed-use, or code-writing).
  • Systems Proficiency: Experience with or a strong desire to master Google Workspace, GIS, Laserfiche, and EnerGov permitting systems. Bilingual English/Spanish skills are a valuable asset.
  • Licensure: A valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
