Senior PITO Technician
Responsible for the advanced inspection, maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of Powered Industrial Truck Operations (PITO) equipment and aerial lift equipment. This role supports the reliability, safety, and uptime of critical material handling assets, including forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, order pickers, scissor lifts, and boom lifts. Ensures operational continuity while maintaining compliance with all safety and regulatory requirements.
Responsibilities
- Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on PITO and aerial lift equipment in accordance with OEM specifications.
- Diagnose and repair complex mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, pneumatic, and battery system issues.
- Troubleshoot forklifts, pallet jacks, reach trucks, order pickers, scissor lifts, boom lifts, and related equipment.
- Conduct daily, weekly, and scheduled equipment inspections and document findings.
- Repair and replace critical system components, including:
- Hydraulic systems, cylinders, and pumps
- Electric drive motors and controllers
- Steering and braking systems
- Batteries, chargers, and power distribution systems
- Electrical wiring, sensors, and control modules
- Ensure compliance with OSHA regulations, Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and company safety standards.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records, work orders, and documentation within the CMMS system.
- Partner with Operations teams to minimize downtime and maximize equipment availability.
- Conduct root cause analysis and support continuous improvement initiatives.
- Manage and support parts inventory control and equipment audits.
- Provide technical guidance and support to junior maintenance technicians as needed.
- Respond to emergency repairs and equipment breakdowns when required.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required.
- Technical or vocational training in industrial maintenance, automotive technology, diesel mechanics, electrical systems, or a related field preferred.
- 5+ years of experience servicing forklifts, powered industrial trucks, or material handling equipment.
- Experience working with electric, propane, and battery-powered equipment.
- Experience in a distribution, warehouse, manufacturing, or food production environment preferred.
Skills
- Advanced troubleshooting and repair skills for mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
- Strong working knowledge of hydraulic systems and controls.
- Ability to read and interpret electrical, hydraulic, and mechanical schematics.
- Experience using computerized maintenance management systems (CMMS).
- Proficiency with diagnostic software and testing equipment.
- Strong problem-solving and analytical abilities.
Qualifications
Preferred certifications:
- OSHA Forklift Certification.
- Scissor Lift and Boom Lift (Aerial Work Platform) Certification.
- Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) Training.
- Electrical Safety Training.
- OEM Certifications (Toyota, Crown, Raymond, Hyster, Yale, or related manufacturers).
Physical Requirements
- Ability to lift up to 50 pounds on a regular basis.
- Ability to stand, walk, bend, kneel, climb, and work in various positions throughout the shift.
- Comfortable working in refrigerated, freezer, warehouse, and production environments.
- Ability to safely operate powered industrial trucks and aerial lift equipment.

Pay
$40.00 - $50.00 per hour, based on experience, certifications, and qualifications.
Schedule
- Monday through Friday
- 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM
- Overtime, weekends, and emergency call-ins as needed
