Job Summary
The Senior Physician Assistant provides high quality, efficient, team-based patient-focused care under the direction of a supervising physician. Responsibilities may include managing patients in various settings and facilitating on-call responsibilities.
About the Role
The Senior Physician Assistant, by virtue of experience and competency, provides a high level of clinical and operational expertise and may function as a mentor to less experienced Physician Assistants.
Responsibilities
- Examines patient, performs comprehensive physical examination, and compiles patient medical data.
- Administers or orders diagnostic tests and interprets test results.
- Performs therapeutic procedures such as injections, immunizations, suturing, and wound care.
- Develops and implements patient management plans, records progress notes, and assists in continuity of care.
- Instructs and counsels patients regarding compliance with prescribed therapeutic regimens, normal growth and development, family planning, emotional problems, and health maintenance.
- Additional duties may include facilitating admissions, transfers, discharges, first assisting in surgeries, performing admission evaluations, providing pre-operative and post-operative care, and facilitating patient discharge.
Qualifications
- Minimum three (3) years previous experience in the last five (5) years as a physician assistant.
- Graduate from an ARC-PA accredited physician assistant program.
- Physician Assistant License (California) and National Provider Identifier required at hire.
- Advanced Certification in specialty area, preferred.
Experience
Basic Qualifications: Three (3) years previous experience in the last five (5) years as a physician assistant. Basic Life Support certification required.
Preferred Qualifications: Advanced Certification in specialty area, preferred.
