About the Role
Provides independent physical therapy management of patients under the direction of the Rehabilitation Services Director or designee. Delivers physical therapy services in specialized patient care clinics and assists in developing, implementing, and reviewing departmental patient care programs.
Responsibilities
- Evaluates patients and interprets findings to determine the nature and extent of dysfunction.
- Establishes treatment goals and plans treatment to achieve them.
- Initiates discharge planning for physical therapy.
- Implements the treatment plan through direct patient care, delegation to supportive personnel, and coordination with other healthcare providers.
- Provides advice and education to patients and families.
- Regularly reassesses clinical signs and symptoms to evaluate treatment effectiveness, progress toward goals, and the need for modifications.
- Discharges patients when maximum benefit from physical therapy is achieved.
- Documents physical therapy patient management accurately and timely.
- Participates in educational and clinical research activities.
- Contributes to specialized patient care clinics outside the department.
- Assists in developing, implementing, and reviewing departmental patient care programs.
- Performs additional duties in staff education, departmental operations, and projects as needed.
- Demonstrates ongoing progress toward professional practice criteria.
- Instructs patient education classes/groups within or outside the department based on operational needs.
- Provides at least one departmental in-service per year (e.g., journal club or regular presentation).
- Serves as a clinical instructor to physical therapy students as requested.
- Manages complex patients independently with minimal consultation.
Requirements
- Minimum two (2) years of experience in physical therapy.
- Graduate of an accredited physical therapy curriculum with a bachelor’s, master’s, or doctoral degree (or foreign-trained equivalent).
- Physical Therapist License (California) required at hire.
- Basic Life Support certification required at hire.
- National Provider Identifier required at hire.
- Ability to work in a Labor/Management Partnership environment.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Clinical Instructor for physical therapy students.
Pay
$66.69 - $70.62 per hour.
Schedule
- Hours: 30 hours per week (part-time).
- Shift: Day shift (Tuesday, Wednesday, Friday).
- Working Hours: 07:30 AM – 06:00 PM.
Worker location must align with Kaiser Permanente's Authorized States policy.
